Ever wondered what the world looks like through the eyes of a young child?

Armed with tiny GoPro cameras and a big question—what does power in Early Childhood Education look like from the child’s perspective?—Dr Keegan stepped back and let the children lead. What she captured was eye-opening. That powerful phrase, “It’s like baby jail,” came directly from one of the children she observed.

Through the children’s eyes and voices, Dr Keegan uncovered how rigid daily routines impact children’s participation, autonomy, and agency in early childhood centres. When educators watched the footage themselves, they were stunned. Their response?

With over thirty years in ECE and centre ownership, Angela has a wealth of experience and knowledge in successful ECE leadership and centre management. 

Over the years Angela has also had roles as a lecturer in ECE, nanny, teacher, and mentor.

Doctor of Philosophy in Education | Early Childhood Specialist | University Lecturer | Children's Rights Researcher

With over a decade of experience in the early childhood sector as a researcher, educator, content developer, and childhood specialist, Chloe’s passion lies in conducting qualitative research with young children. She is a Lecturer in the Froebel Department of Primary Education and Early Childhood in Maynooth University and her work is driven by a commitment to ensuring children's voices are authentically heard and reflected in educational policy and legislation.
