In this learning library we provide a range of learning resources to help build your practice as a leader in early childhood education. Many of us will take leadership roles in various guises. This may be as a manager, a curriculum leader, team leader, pedagogical leader or project leader.

No matter our title, we are all leaders in some form as early childhood educators. But effective leadership requires continuous learning and refining of knowledge and skills. We have curated this collection of resources to support your growth as a leader at any stage of the leadership journey.

"Reimagining non-contact time"

For many ECE services, non-contact time is precious and we rarely get through everything we would like to do.
It is possible there are some better ways to make the most of non-contact time AND also create better outcomes for children.

Most of non-contact time in ECE services is spent on Kaiako creating assessment documentation for children. Typically, this involves teachers working on their own in an office space writing stories that do not necessarily reflect the perspectives of the whole teaching team. This webinar will highlight some of the problems with this conceptualisation of non-contact time and offer alternative ways of working for your consideration.

In this webinar we will:
  • Challenge default ideas about non-contact time and what it should be used for
  • Give ideas for scheduling wise use of non-contact time
  • Provide suggestions to maximise time for teachers to collaborate during non-contact time
