This session builds on the He Māpuna te Tamaiti (HMtT) workshop, emphasising children's social-emotional development in early childhood. The formative years are critical for acquiring these skills as children navigate a spectrum of emotions. Kaiako play a vital role in recognising and positively responding to these emotions, fostering learning and participation. This is an interactive session where participants will use HMtT's self-assessment tool to evaluate their practice and explore strategies that support children's social and emotional learning and growth. The focus will be on both universal and targeted approaches to proactively support children's social behaviour and interactions and to understand and regulate emotions.
