Play Objects for Infants

Albert Einstein was spot on when he said “Play is the highest form of research” many moons ago. And many decades of research since have shown us that it is through uninterrupted, self directed play that children learn best.

This not only relates to young children, but to infants and toddlers too. Infants (children under the age of approx18 months), are at a stage in their development where they will explore, play and learn with all of their senses.

But this need not translate into the need to provide expensive, manufactured toys. We can provide simple, open ended objects from around the home that provide the opportunity for infants to engage in meaningful self directed play. Here are some of our suggestions for infants’ play objects…
